The past and the present of the Roma in Burgenland on CD-ROM
available only in german

The Adult Education Institution of the Roma in Burgenland presents the first time a cross-section of the history and the circumstances of life of the Roma in Burgenland.
An important part is the documentation about the pursuit and genocide on the Roma, which is marking the destiny of this ethnic group till today.

A further part is dedicated to the cultural traditions: to identity, language and the culture of narrative as to the world of employment and the central social values of the Roma.
Information about the past and the present situation is rounding off the CD-ROM.

The destination of the CD-ROM is to resist a solid documentation of tradition and lifestyle of this ethnic group to the population, which often has a picture of uncertainty and prejudices about the Roma.

The CD-ROM - in relation to the exhibition - has been expanded with an essential facet: a linguistically easier version attracts children younger than 12 years, which means that the usage is also possible in elementary schools.

An additional book for teachers shows with practical examples which possibilities the medium offers for instructions.

The structure goes through three levels:

The history
Social development
Ethnological subjects

These three levels are embedded in general, global subjects. To explain the history, socialpolitical developments, ethnic commons and
differences in a better way, metalevels will be adopted, which show specific aspects of problems in a Pan-european context, point out common
developments and describe varieties.
